My car wont move
So my motor was making some rediculous knocking sounds in my 96 honda civic (ZC SOHC Engine), so i went ahead and bought a new japanese ZC replacement from a shop local. Everything worked on my car when i pulled it into the garage, only thing wrong was the knocking sound the motor was making.
I pulled my old engine & transmission out the car then seperated the motor & transmission. Then i took the flywheel, clutch & pressure plate off of my old motor to bolt onto to the new motor (note these parts are only a few months old)
put the car back together and went to take it for a test drive, pulled out of my driveway about 15 feet and then it kind of jolted a little and then would not go anywhere. I press the gas and it just revs up as if the clutch was gone, the speedometer moves but the car will not move at all.
Before i took the car for a test drive i also noticed when i let the car idle in neutral it makes a sound kind of like what a throwout bearing makes when it goes out but the sound goes away immediately when i press in the clutch. It also made this sound when the car would not go anywhere in gear as well.
Took everything back apart to inspect the clutch to make sure nothing came apart or whatever. The clutch fork clip came off the little pivot ball (not sure the technical name), everything looked fine so i put it back together and went to take it for test drive again. It did the same damn thing. No idea what it would be, now im thinking it is the transmission.
Took the transmission back out of the car & stuck the axles in the trani to see if when i spin the main shaft of the trani that the axles will spin, it all seemed to be working fine. Put it back into the car & tried to spin the axles again after i had the tranmission mounted to the motor in gear. I had the car in gear and the axles would just spin no matter what gear i was in, it was like the car was in neutral.
Not sure if its an issue with the clutch or tranmission. Anyone have similar problems? HELP PLEASE

AXLE POPPED OUT!!
shove that bish back in the transmission and pull'er back into the garage..
then pull out that axle and try to find the missing c-clip on the end. (or maybe the c-clip is still there but the axle never got shoved in far enough in the first place)

your axles pop out. just make sure its in all the way. because if one axles is not in all the way it would cause it to feel like your throw out bearing is not releasing.

Re: My car wont move
if the speedometer shows speed, that means the differential is spinning, and the car isn't moving, so the axle popped out
unless your 23908725hp zc completely sheared a cv axle... unlikely
they may look popped in to the untrained eye, but i assure you they are not

Re: My car wont move
When i put them in i butted them the way up against the tranmission so there was no gap.
Is it still possible that they can not be in all the way?

Re: My car wont move
if the axles weren't popped all the way into the tranny the whole knuckle and control arm and tie rods wouldn't go back on. i had this happen and i had to hammer the shiiit outa the axle to get it to go into the tranny.
might be ur case if the axle does't go into the hub easilly. did u drop the tranny or somthin?

Re: My car wont move
the gears are moving and clutch is working if the speedo is saying your going somewhere. probably have broken cv axles.
jack the car up and put it into gear and rev it up and look under the car and see what the cv axle is doing. its probably spinging by the tranny and not at the wheel cause its broke.

Re: My car wont move
i have this same problem aswell..going to pull the tranny tomorrow..i also have installed a lsd in my tranny so if 1 axle had poped out i would still be able to move the car a little bit.
