Mini-me swap in obd II civic?
Picked up an auto 99 civic ex with a blown motor. Found a new d16y8 cylinder head, got that all straight.
I found a d15b7 block. I'm wondering, since this is obd II, can I use the d15 block with the d16y8 head to do a mini me swap?

Re: Mini-me swap in obd II civic? (ColdAccord)
I have a d15b7 block, from an eg. it has no knock sensor, and someone was telling me there was another necessary sensor the block did not come with
Can I do this swap, or will I have to find a d15y7 block?

Re: Mini-me swap in obd II civic? (e jay one)
i read that thread, it doesn't really answer any questions about the swap with a d15b7 block into an obd II car. Anyone have any more info?

I don't think the b7 block has a threaded hole in the back for a knock sensor. If you use an obd2 ecu it will look for the knock sensor and if it's not there then it will throw your car in limp mode.

You can use it if you convert to obd1, but if you don't want to do that then get a y7 or y8 block. The y7 block with its internals will give you more compression than if you used a y8 block. (I am running a y8 head on a y7 block).

that block has all necessary sensors? Do i still have to block off that oil journal between the 2nd and 3rd cylinders? Thanks

obd2 blocks such as the y7 and y8 do not have the oil pin thing between 2 and 3 on the surface of the block so don't worry about that. If you get a y8 block it should have the knock sensor in it. The y7 block does not have the knock sensor, but it has the threaded hole for it in the back so just buy a knock sensor and wire it to the ecu.

the car has a y8 in it stock so it should already be wired. I'll grab a y7 block, and use the sensor from my blown y8 block.
