is it overheating, coolant getting low, milky oil in the pan?

Warped head from constant overheating. Which would cause the gasket to fail.

Do you do a lot of stop and go driving? Do you lose coolant?

It's common for condensation to mix with the oil, leaving milky oil. Normally when you get the motor hot it will boil off the water. Change the oil, avoid short trips if you can and keep an eye on it.

is it just in the cap or inside of the head itself? if its just milky residue in the oil cap its just condensation..

sorry to bring up an older post. I just pulled my VC off my GSR and the whole looks like it's covered in white grease. It's all milky and ickk. It's my DD, no overheating, no loss in coolant and compression is good. The weather here is warm one day nad freezing the next. Is it just from that or what? I Also just switched to full synthetic oil, and it's not like that on the dipstick.

It is 100% normal if its on the cap head area, if its on the dip stick your screwed. Normally due to short drives in cold weather. Condensation does not have time to burn off due to the short drive/run...

it's been sitting for 2 days. It's only white on the inside of the valve cover and on top of the cam rails.

who cares if you say it doesn't burn oil or lose water or overheat.
is their a problem other than nasty oil on the valvecover? from what you said no so thats the only problem which is not a big deal. either take ur motor apart and clean all the sludge or drive the **** out of it
