MAP sensor from a differant engine okay?
hi all.. to clear things up first the engine is a B16A from a 93 del sol sir jap import.
lately i have been having a few random flat(engine dying) spots while cruising along, just their yesterday i fired up the car and it ran like poo with a cel, pulled the cell and its a code 3 for the map sensor witch explaines the flat spots
anyway my map sensor isent mounted to the throttle body like most, its mounted on the firewall.
anyways im having a hard time finding a replacement sensor so im using a map sensor off an eg civic SiR i had spare lying in the garage, this map sensor is the type the mounts on the throttle body but i was able to hook it up with no hassle,
car runs fine with no flat spots, cel lights etc.. however vtec sounds a little differant, it dosent sound as loud and aggresive as it did before but still pulls strong,
just woundering if i am causing any harm to the engine using a differant map sensor? there both 5v with just differant part numbers of corse.
any input please?

You're welcome . I just realized you're in Ireland though, so i'm not sure how those trim designations will carry over. In the US/Canada all '92 - '93 Civics equipped with a D15B7 used a firewall mounted MAP sensor, '94 - '95 models were mounted on the throttlebody (you could also get a B-series throttlebody that has the throttlebody mounted MAP sensor on it, they work the same, the only difference is the later eliminates the vaccum line.
