I've been fighting with an oil leak on the distributor side of my LSVTEC setup.

Right now the car has a 1st gen b16 head on it and its leaking oil out of the distributor.

I replaced the O-ring with one from the Honda dealer and that didn't fix the problem.
I've also tried using some RTV around the O-ring and it's still leaking oil.
The dizzy bolts are tight.
Cam seal is aftermarket and shows no signs of leakage, VTEC solenoid has been taken off and checked. Valve cover has a new gasket and the corners were RTV'd.
Also, I'm 100% positive the oil isn't coming from anything but the dizzy. I've cleaned everything off and watched it start to leak from the bottom of the distributor.
When i take the dizzy off there is a small pool of oil that comes leaking out.

Any thoughts? It doesn't leak a lot of oil, I could drive a couple hundred miles (full tank of gas or so) and only lose about 1/2 quart.

Take off the distributor cap is there oil inside the cap? If so you need the distributor oil seal. You can get them from honda for a few dollars. Its not hard to change but you need to take the distributor out of the car and pull it all the way appart. The wires inside the distributor tend to be brittle so be careful. If you have any worries about doing this job just replace the dizzy with a new one

I'll pull the cap off and check it out, not that big of a deal since I did have to replace the cap before we got this thing running. I've taken them off before.

I'll be able to tell in a couple hours.

try replacing the 0-ring gasket.. anytime u remove the dizzy u always got to repleace the o-ring

I bought 2 O-rings from Honda, I'll swap it with the other one and double check the cap when I get home from work.

go one TINY size bigger on the o-ring? maybe use a SAE size bigger instead of metric

I can try that, I've been trying to come up with a solution all day, it's driving me crazy.

I had a similar problem and tried several o-rings both OEM and other. I finally cured it by putting the OEM o-ring in and covering it with 3M silicon paste and then putting blue RTV sealant (like Honda bond) on the base of the distributor which contacts the block when you insert the distributor. Works perfect, no sign of a leak and the block is bone dry.

So after attempting to RTV the dizzy multiple times, it turns out it wasn't the dizzy at all. The plug behind the dizzy rattled loose. Bone dry now, thanks for the help everybody
