I've heard they will do it for free, but a locksmith can do it for like 40 bucks or so. I would at least call Honda and ask about it.

All the dude asked me for was my VIN number when I got a copy made.

if u already have a key u can just go get a copy maid for a few bucks u dont have to give a vin number or anything. ya but that is scary so if u have someones vin number u can get a key made

I would love for Honda to be more picky abuot making keys than just asking for the Vin no....I damn sure wouldnt want someone to be able to make a key for my car and take it....

most dealerships will atleast require a registration and id to show ownership before they will cut you a key. I had to get one made for my Integra and the guy wouldnt even start on it til i got their with the reg and id

they have master keys when i worked at nissan keys were locked in cars ALL THE TIME and we never had anything along those lines never heard of itt.

Very good point i think they might want your regisration i never had a problem with that i know all the guys at the honda dealer and i spend a hole SHITLOAD of money there. they cut my keys for free

They did a story about this on the news about 2 weeks ago. They had these reporters go in and ask for keys to an Eclipse, Explorer, Civic, and a couple other cars. All they did is give the vin and a nice show of acting. The dealers just gave them keys with no ID no nothing...just a vin. They only gave the keys to the females I might add...the dealer said that they were honest looking. And by law in some states...the person requesting the key must have ID, Title, and Vin.
And my parents wonder why I spend hella money on a good alarm. It looks like that is the only thing standing between a thief and stealing my car now.

It's the title...from what I heard on the news. I think if you were to be leasing a vehicle...they would have you on record there anyways and could ask you for some in depth info...like Social Security Number (Mercedes does this)...and the obvious...a photo ID.

Or will they not accept a copy?
