Default jumpy idle after oil change.

I let this one go to about 5.5k before changing. I haven't been feeling very Honda-ey because of a light front-end collisison which left me with a messed up hood and bumper.

Getting down to business everything went fine. I let the warm oil all drain out, changed filter and tightened it by hand appropriately. I accidentally overfilled the oil with about 3.65 quarts by accident. I hope this isn't where my problem lies because it feels like a vacuum leak.

Check for leaks, none, turn key. The idle goes up to about 2.1k, starts to go down, then bobs back up to 2.2. After settling, the jump happens about every 2 seconds. The first day after warming up it would settle at about 1.5 and jump to 2.2. Now two days later it sometimes settles at 1.1k and jumps to 1.4 every 7 seconds, or it'll go into spurts where it'll fall to .5 and jump 1.5. I was leaving work yesterday and the car was doing the same. I think I was shifting into 2nd when the car feltlike it sputtered down, almost stalled, and the check engine light came on. It was then difficult to drive, I pulled into a parking lot. I was not leaking oil. Restarted the car, I guess it sounded normal for idling at 1.5. Drove it home and it didn't stutter again but it didn't feel right probably because the engine light is still on.

Never messed with vacuum hoses, checked and they all look connected. I am not leaking oil, oil filter is not leaking, oil cap and dipstick in tight. Car was perfect before oil change, I have no clue what's going on.

I disassembled a D15B7 shortblock and there's a good half inch at least from the "full" line of the dipstick to the bottom of the girdle like one piece main cap. It should be fine as long as you aren't way way over the line.

Is there any way you could have spilled oil on something? I honestly have no idea, but just trying to think of possible causes.

The oil change may be just a coincidence.

Pull the CEL codes from the ECU. Reset the ECU and drive car to see whether the same codes repeat. Possibly an IACV or ECT sensor code.

It's not too hard to drain the excess oil to the full mark, though this likely has nothing to do with the idle problem.

oil was 2-3 mm after the 2nd hole in the stick.

ill try and pull the code when i get home. im gonnig to go through the rough/jumpy idle guide if i cant fix it by this weekend. i read somewhere how you can test for vacuum problems by unplugging different hoses in different places and such, i need to find that.
