My USDM ITR motor takes a lot of oil as well. During oil changes I know I need almost 4.5 quarts.

When I first put the motor in, it was rebuilt, and completely dry. I put damn near 5.25 quarts in it over a period of 2 days to get it to the second dot on the dipstick.

If the motor has been swapped and the fluids drained out then that sounds right for your 1st time (between 4.5 to 5 quarts).
