Intermittent CEL help
I've been getting an intermittent CEL lately. Its a code 6, so its the Coolant Temperature Sensor.
Heres the scenario:
I start driving and no light. Once the car starts warming up a bit (most times about half way between cold and normal op. temp.), the CEL will come on. I can stop and turn off the car and the CEL will go off, or I can turn the car off while driving and it'll turn off. Sometimes. Sometimes the car has to be shut off twice to get rid of the CEL. And, last night, it just wouldn't go away at all. On Friday morning, it didn't come on at all on the way to work. Its VERY screwy.
Heres what I've done:
I've reset the ECU. Same thing happens again.
I've checked for resistance at the TW sensor....within normal range (reads about 240Ω...range is 200-400Ω). Sensor is good.
Then I've check for voltage on the plug....normal reading of 5V. There is no open between the wires from the ECU to the plug.
Only thing that it can be now is the ECU.
Has anyone had this happen to them? And if so, did you fix it with a new ECU? I'd rather not get a new ECU since the one I have I like...a euro P28. Any help is appreciated...
