Default mini me swap problems

Hello, just swapped a d16z6 head onto d15b7 bottom end. New timing belt, head gasket, d16z6 dizzy and spark plug wires, adjustable timing gear, 4-2-1 headers. Also wired vtec to ecu, going to be using a p06.

Couple questions, is it worth using a vtec controller to set vtec engagement? Or better to keep it wired directly into the ecu?

Also after the swap, my car doesnt seem to have as much power as it did before:
-car is backfiring
-car randomly stalls, maybe twice a month, and wont start for a minute or two
-car idles very low
-below 1k rpms, very loud squeeking noise coming from pulleys
-no codes, but has when racing when tacking very high around 7k
-not sure if vtec engages, upon its installation, car let off ALOT of white smoke when it hit 4800-5200k rpms

Don't know where to start. Why a P06 instead of the P28?

you dont need a vtec controller if you have a p28 instead of a p06.. you can get that p06 converted to a p28 basemap..the white smoke is probably your headgasket.. did you drive the 500 mile break in period??

Oh no!! The controller is junk! I wish you would have shown up before this. Please tell me you got the Y8 head gasket(raises compression) and the Y8 timing belt(massive mini-me write up).A P28 can be had for $70-$125, I got mine for $100 off craigslist.

I did the same thing and sold mine on craigslist. Good luck on the mini-me. P.S. your head studs should be replaced(heat and miles stretch them).
