I wish there was pix and not going to hate but i would only do this auto to manual if you tools, money, knowleges and find someone who know how to do this correctly. If not then find a car that manual to save you from huge problem and concern down the road..

The swap should take a few hours. All you need to do is take off the tranny, take out the shifter. Jump the 2 wires for the ignition. Put in the manual shifter. Put on a flywheel and clutch, put on the bracket for the manual tranny. Put new tranny in place, connect shift linkage and axles. And put in a clutch pedal (2 bolts) and run a line to the slave from the master and then bleed it. Mine took a couple of days but the people who were working on it were total idiots.

Jimster,
I have a 92 EX and going to put a 91 DX manual transmission in it. Is it possible? Also, what parts would I need to get if any?

its possible. But not easy. Because the 91 cars were cable and your EG is Hydro. So you need to get a converter (expensive) or swap the car to cable (which sucks). If you really want to do it, those are your options. Also you will probably need some tranny mount which will line up with the 91 tranny as I'm pretty sure the brackets are different/

not as much. I'm not sure the mounting differences between cable and hydro because I've never had a cable car. Although I suppose if you had a EF you could swap everything over to the EG? But if you are just buying the tranny, dont even waste your time with it.

quick question here.... with using the ex tranny is it necessary to use the manual/ex ecu???? and i assume that a manual gauge cluster would be in order as well.... any wiring needed to do the manual cluster swap or is it plug and play? good guidance would be much appreciated

Im going to be doing this in a few weeks (waiting for my auto to manual conversion mount) on my DC, everything seems straight forward but the wiring is where i want to cry.

Re: HOW TO: My auto to manual swap PICS! 56k no no.
was up h-teckers.. so i did an auto to manual swap on 1990 Integra DA OBD0... I dropped in a second gen b16a SiR OBD1, complete swap, tranny ecu, shift linkage etc.. etc.. The motor starts and everything, just a few minor problems... (1) the key is stuck to the ignition... (2) The car starts without clutching (3) the fans are not working, there is like 3 plugs from the obd0 harness that are loose, dont know if that is the problem (fans are wired directly to the battery so they are on at all time.... please help....

Use a manual DA integra series ETM to help you find the right wiring locating, for all of you that are just hacking wires into the connectors and putting duct tape around them is a bad idea. Go to a junk yard, cut the connector (doesnt matter what year, civic/teg/prelude) etc off and then unpin the wires from that connector and pin them into your harness, after that is done solder the wires together and the use some shrink wrap to cover the open wires, if you want to get real fancy wire loom them and run it under the dash and no on will ever know and you will never have any electrical problem. I have done many many auto to manual swaps, the only materials you really need for the wiring section is some wire strippers, soldering iron, shrink wrap, OEM pinouts so they fit CORRECTLY into the connector, about three feet of 8 gauge wire, and bam, no one can tell the difference. If anyone ever goes to buy a vehicle that has a hacked auto-manual conversion and actually know what they are looking at, you're probably going to loose a sale. Just my input..

+1. Just did my 5spd swap. Just need ideas for the shifter hole and need to figure out why my shifter touches the driver seat when in 1st or 2nd lol...

Re: HOW TO: My auto to manual swap PICS! 56k no no.
here are a few pics of my current auto manual conversion. here i installed the little bucket thing so that the factory boot can fit around the bottom of the shifter to keep exhaust heat out. you can also see where i welded up the shifter cable hole with the factory filler piece.
below are some wiring pics. here are the reverse green and yellow wires. i heat shrunk them together and ran them to a19 and a17 wires of the pcm. that way i didn't have to run any wires from the engine bay to the cabin.
this is the factory clutch starter relay setup from a 5spd. i wired this to the clutch pedal and to the shifter plug for the starter. this way the starter won't burn up the clutch pedal switch.
another pic of the reverse light wires at the center console and over to the pcm. their not in order like they should be but you get the point.
here is the starter relay again. i wound up going with the actual starter relay the other relay in the other pic was a under the hood relay.
as for the key getting stuck in the ignition i just unplugged the little box like said in one of these swap threads.

Re: HOW TO: My auto to manual swap PICS! 56k no no.
few questions.
im workin' out of my garage. (so no lift) i have the front on jack stands. bumper, and fenders are off. im about to remove the axles soon.
the cars about a foot off the groun. once i move all the lines out of the way. and loosen all the bolts goin from trans to motor. could i just let the trans drop to the ground (after i loosen the mount)
and i have almost everything in the way of the AT shifter. but the shifter doesn't look like its gonna come out. (do i have to pry something out)
and once i start removing the pedal assembly. the throttle cable loosens from the top of the pedal?
any help appreciated. and any tips on removing the trans and putting in the MT would help out. im thinking about getting another jack. to hold but the front end. and another to hold up the MT
