How much power does you B16 make???
I have a 00 civic si and i really dont have much done to it, just intake, exhaust and suspension. My friend said that 200hp (to the wheels) will probally be the max I will get out of my engine with some mods like CTR pistons, Skunk 2 stage 2 cams, headwork and other basics. What I really wanted to know is what have some of you made for HP and what your 1/4mile times were?

LOL, weak response.
You didn't bother to tell him how much money its gonna cost.
Average numbers for a b16a are 130-40 WHP, and maybe 101 TQ to back it up.
general consensus is its a good rev happy motor, but its really lacking in the torque. and the 1.6L doesnt help much either.

Re: How much power does you B16 make??? (JUN EK9)
before i began to modify my jdm b16 sir2 motor it dynoed at 151 hp and 107ftlbs of tq. I mean i had and intake and exhaust but thats it...I have it in an 92 hatchback and i also ran the quarter the same day I dynoed it and managed to pull off a 14.6 as my fastest. I ran a couple 14.8's before that though.
If you really want to get some high hp numbers out of your b16 invest in a great fuel management setup. Hondata..etc..etc.. when you do a bunch of motor work this is the saving grace that puts out those big numbers and keeps your motor running healthy....good luck

I have a JDM B16 (SIR 2) as well the matching (non-LSD) tranny, it has little done to it:
- STR Cam Gears
- 2.25" exhaust
- High Flow Cat and muffler
- AEM Cold Air Intake
- Rear Disc Conversion
- Energy Suspension Master Kit
It has been tuned on a dyno with a Hondata S200 (previous owner but no egine settings have been changed), currently the Hondata is not hooked up but will be in about a month.
I have about over 30 runs at the drag track with this settup and the best time I was able to turn was 14.6
Hopefully with the hondata hooked up, the and my alignment done I will be able to bring the time down a bit more.
The lauch is what is killing my times (reaction times are fine). I have tried different tires (Street winters), psi levels, launch revs, Feathering and dumping the clutch all to not much inprovment. If a LSD was added it could only help out matters.
I intend to put a turbo on it in about a year or two but I believe that I can hit the high 13's before the turbo goes on by doing relatively small mods.
I am glad to see that "92RED Hatch" is running the same time. Having roughly the same amount done to it. I would like to know wether or not he/she has LSD?
I go to the track again in September, I can post my results here on the site if any of you are interested.

In my opinion its not worth building you b16 like you were saying... 3 years ago i had a b16 with itr manifold, header, and exhaust and i made 163, 108... you wont make 200 hp with skunk2 st2's and ctr pistons..
your best bet would be to put a 1.8 bottom end on. it wont cost you anymore money than installing skunk2 cams and pistons.
you'll make more power by going to a 1.8 and it will be so so so much more fun to drive with all that torgue than you would with a b16 with cams...
Ive had jsut about every motor, b16a, LS-Vtec, B16B (ctr), and now a B18C5.
The CTR motor was fun top end but it sucked for daily driving.. having the 1.8 is so much better

i agree and i own a b16..and i plan to build it..but a b18 will always own a b16 when it comes to tourqe

No lsd yet....wish I did...but that mod will eventually come...Since that dyno day and track day I have installed itr cams,skunk2 im, jdm itr 4-1 header,skunk2 cam gears, itr tb, hi-flow cat, fuel press reg, and a jays carbon intake...So as soon as i get a wideband o2 sensor I'm gonna have it re-tuned and I'll let you know how it turned out...Let me know after you get your hondata setup and dyno-tune your car what numbers you make. sounds like your b16 is running very healthy as well. good luck

thanks for all the resopnse and espically to JDM Ninja, that omniman civic was hot but 12g's or so to make 200whp is too much for me... also post your pics of your 99-00 coupes...

my b16a put down 148hp and 108tq(b16a sir2) with the car untuned and the a/f ratio all over the place. i bought a vafc and i'm having my ecu rechipped by http://www.efituningforless.com with a custom program for my setup and i'm going to hit the dyno again and hopefully i'll see some #'s closer to 160. i also have cam gears to tune but the day i was at the dyno for some reason they were seized and wouldn't turn. oh btw i seen your friend with the white coupe from street educated getting stopped by the police and getting towed on 1a a while ago.

Re: (street educated em1)
yea go 1.8 200 whp is frikkn good though. my uncle made 205 at the wheels with an ericks built b18c5 total was 8000 for everything and he ran 12.5s after having the motor for a month or so.. no fuel management though.

Re: (street educated em1)
haha...you 1.8 gurus. i thought about getting a gsr motor, but then i realized that gsr motors are more and more common in civics these days. so i thought to myself "wouldnt it be the **** to have a 1.6 liter motor that performed like a 1.8 liter?"...i love getting recognition from everyone at the track when i tell them that i only have a b16...
200whp from a b16a isnt as unachieveable as you thing. my b16 has had a long and destructive road behind it, but im finally getting closer, and 200 whp isnt so far away...
heres my set-up:
-usdm b16a3 with oversized civic type-r pistons
-1st gen b16 head with portflow retainers and springs
-skunk2 stage 1 cams
-jdm integra type-r throttle body and intake manifold
-dc 4-2-1 header with 2.5 in custom exhaust (soon to be comptech tri-y)
-aem short ram
-fpr and aem cam gears
-hondata s100
before my cams, springs, intake manifold, throttle body and hondata, i hit 172whp. so you tell me this...how much more am i looking at now?
is 200whp from a b16 that far away? i dont think it is.

Re: (turbotime)
b16 guys who upgrade their pistons is one of the best ways to make good power......head stuff is great....you'll notice a lot when you up the compression and get more tq....

couldnt have said it better myself...upgrading the pistons is only a good way to make REAL power if you are going to run a sicker cam. type-r cams or skunk2 stage 1's with ctr pistons is THE ****. running stock b16 cams with upgraded pistons is going to make your b16 waaay under-cammed.

"omniman built a 1880cc b16a road race shortblock for one of his customers, using my 82mm stroker piston kit.
He wasn't given much info yet, as the team is too busy right now. What I do know is this:
the compression is roughly 11.9/12.0 to 1
omni will find out more info, and hopefully post dyno graphs.
omniman only built them a shortblock, and shipped it out. he did not tune it, and they did everything else.
with the cam gears at zero, and running out of injector (14.5 a/f)....
it made 224 whp.
itr head milled .020
skunk2 stage 3 cams
hytech header
v-afc
stock injectors
not sure on intake manifold
.040 cometic gasket.
it should see 230+ whp with the right injectors and additional tuning."
