Default Quick question about Intakes on Automatics

I just had a quick question....

What is the difference regarding intakes on 2001+ Civic's? Basically, what is the difference between 01 intakes for manuals in comparison to 01 intakes for automatics? Does that make any sense? =P

ahh man, u know intake has nothin to do with tranny ;P
either way intake gives u like 2-3 hp IF that. i'd think it'd have the same effect on auto trannies vs manual trannies, u'd just feel that whole 2 horsepower more on a manual (which you can't)....and sound effects are the same ;P

Oops, what I meant was, what is the difference in the parts? For example, why won't model XXXX fit on Manual's where as it will not fit on Automatics? Basically the difference in engine layout.

There IS no difference in the parts. Anything engine related would be the same for the auto tranny and the manual tranny such as the intake and headers. The intake has nothing to do with what type of transmission you have.

as far as i know, the engine bay is exactly the same, just the tranny is different.

what pariticular cars are you talking about where the engine bay is different because of the tranny?

but intakes have NOTHING to do with the tranny they have. u know this bro ;P

there is supposedly a difference in the intakes for 01+ Civics. My dealership decided to put a cai on an 01 LX automatic but when it came in didn't fit cause it was for a manual car. They ordered one for an automatic and it worked. That was what I was told, the put the 2nd intake on right after I started there so I don't know first hand whether there was really a difference or not.

I thought they would all be the same but check out this AEM website link. They do have different intakes for A/T and M/T civics. Weird. I've never heard of that before. http://www.aempower.com/application/...pplication.htm

I looked at it more in-depth and the auto's can only have the short-ram style, instead of the CAI. Weird. I wonder why.

Yah, weird. The reason why I asked is because my friend and I are selling one on eBay and we were unsure of a few things, but thanks for everyones help!

I cant speak specifically for Civics but on my Celica the automatic tranny is larger than the manual so the intake would rub against the tranny because it went right in front of it

The reason your auto won't take a cold air intake is in the newest (newest?) issue of HCI. On Civics like the DX with the small engine, they don't cut out the hole that the CAI runs through. Stick with the short-ram kit.
