I just changed my filter after a year from the mod, it's easy and the best thing ever done on the car.

Depends where he lives, I guess. Lots of gravel roads means very dusty and would clog up quickly.

Umm...I don't think you have to go through all that....you can simply install one here (it only works on trims that have A/C)

Thanks for this write up. I just had the cabin air filter changed in my Rav-4 and I was wondering if my 2000 Civic LX had on too. I will definitely be getting one soon. I have had the leaves blowing in my face problem mentioned above many times ;P

I finally did the cabin filter retrofit on my 94 civic from a 98 civic donor and just had my original compressor manually inspected before I have my a/c recharged. When I turn the air on I can definately here debris flying around. I will use a foaming coil cleaner before installing the filter to let the gunk drain out.

Do not waste your money on the aftermarket MicroGard brand filters from O'Reilly Auto with part #3018. They are too big for the air filter frame. This particular frame dimension is 8.860 inches in length, 7.800 inches wide and 1.180 inches high. Has anyone tried the Wix brand part #24877? It is 8.819 inches in length, 7.795 inches wide, and 1.181 inches deep. Guess next time I will buy an actual Honda OEM filter.

I scored today at Ecology and found a 98 CRV in the truck section with the filter and frame unmolested. I looked at the Fram cabin filter with baking soda at Wal-Mart and it is $39.00 without tax. I may use the Honda one instead to save money for now.

Sucks the images are gone. I hate the ephemeral nature of the web.

The remaining pic on this page is really all you need. Acquire a frame and a filter, insert into slot.

Especially in dusty California. I actually cut the dash brace that runs in front of it for speedier changes on the regular.
