im really confused right now about the laws of nitrous on the street. i live in CA and ive been hereing different thing about the legality of nitrous. ive heard that you cant even have the setup from one person and ive heard that you could have the kit but the bottle must be turned off and mounted properly and i just dont know who bullshittin me. what does mounted properly even mean. so if anyone knows the facts let me know. thanks

but most places, you can have the bottle, but not hooked up.

In Fl there isnt a law specifically saying anything about Nitrous, having it hooked up, or even using it on the road. But Im sure Cali would crusify you if they caught you with it.

those are my words. i've had a few friends booked for an overnight stay at the "hilton" precinct. FI is are illegal in CA. put it this way, all cops say one thing, "if it didn't come factory with the car... then here's your citation. you've got so and so days to fix it" in my words, try to stay legal

What i heared was as long as the bottles not in the car ur okay, so if ur hookin it up for trips to the track u should be okay, I doubt the cop will know what a nitrous solinoid is gonna look like.

if the bottle is in the car and hooked up, ie gas in the lines, BIG NO NO. Nobottle no prob. And properly hooked up is with a permanant mount (no slidng around) and vented to outside the vehicle

They can search your car, legally, without your giving say so, anything "Within an arms reach" meaning they can't search compartments or open hood, trunk. If you dont give them your permission, and they dont have reason to arrest you, they can get a warrent within 5minutes. And if they go that far, they're probably pissed you didnt give expressed permision, and you're fucked.

Speeding is not probible cause to search a car, you need to give them permssion or a reason ... BUT that being said all they need to do is say they thought you might have been drunk or that the smelled what they thought was Pot when they walked up to your car .. bang probible cause...

In my town, cops dont care. You can have the bottle in, hooked up, turned on. It doesnt matter.

oh yea. Is cali really that strict. If it didnt come stock then you cant have it? no FI? NOt even turbo or supercharger. what if the car comes stock with a turbo or supercharger? Are they really that strict or are you exagerating?

really simple,

have the line disconnected at the bottle, connect it at the track (9/16" open end wrench).......

Make a NA pass..........on the return road do a 3 second burst in 2nd gear to purge system.

Been pulled over and inspected 3 times. No tickets.

Once cops figured out I don't fit the ricer/teenager profile, they leave me alone.

in CT you can have the bottle anywhere in the car, properly mounted. and it cannot be connected to the motor on the street.
