Default HIDs on halogen lamps

Are HIDs too bright for halogen lamps? The retrofits on civics are ghetto-made and not sure if it works. So is there any good halogen H4 bulbs that are bright and provide good light? Let me know

I think it'll depend on the "intensity" of the lightbulb, higher intensity gets hotter i believe. try do a search on this. I remember threads about this a while back.

The reflector/projector of halogen lamps aren't designed for the light emitted from a xenon arc. That's one of the reasons why retrofits are currently illegal.

If you want a good street legal light where output and not color is the main factor, consider the "high output" bulbs put out by GE, Sylvania, and Philips. Keep in mind they won't last as long. You don't get something for nothing!

2 different types of HID bulbs, D2R, and D2S one is for reflector housing, while the other is for projector.

D2R capsules are intended for use in reflector housings, and D2S should be used with projectors. If you're going to be installing either kind into a halogen housing, you should make sure that the capsules have been properly re-based, so that the original focal point is maintained.
