Help: Car wont go in gear when cold??
When i go out and crank up my car and it is cold I cannot get it in any gear. I play around with the shifter movin it up and down until it finally goes into gear. Once i get it in to a gear than it will go in the other gears fine. Once the car is warmed up than i have no problems with this at all. Anyone know what could be wrong or what i can do to fix this problem???

try letting your car warm up for at least a couple minutes if it is cold out. Also, maybe you want to switch to a different oil weight for your tranny fluid... I know that certain weights are better for cold or warm weather, do a search and find out
I don't think it's a prob with the car though, I live in MN and mine doesn't like the cold very much either

That has sparked up quite large debates in the past, I've seen an old thread or two on the topic.
What oil are you running in the transmission right now?

sometime the syncros they contract cause of the cold weather.. so metal needs time to heat of... anyways your suppose to let your car heat up before you just in and drive away

Do you still have your e-brake pulled when you are trying to put it in gear? For some reason on my car I have to release the ebrake and then try again and it will go into gear.
