I'm a noob to this kind of ****, but from what I understood is that i'm better of upgrading my suspension than buying the typical I/H/E bolt ons. Makes sense especially if your on a tight budget .
Good write up by the way.

Depends on what your definition of best to worst means. Unfortunately this thread isn't the focus of such questions.

Heres my set up
All stock D16Y8 minus ARP head studs.
-eBay .63 trim T3/T4 turbo
-Conventional oil
-cast iron log manifold
-eBay waste gate @9psi
-2.25" custom exhaust
-P28 w/ Crome
-Tuned by Import Auto Pros in Westminster, CA
It actually made 230whp but I had it detuned at the top end which is why it plateaus. The car had a massive amount of torque coming from factory spec and that was my favorite part!! I could probably tow another car if the transmission was stronger.

Just saw this in your sig from another post you spoke on. Great info. I just came from the nissan se-r world. Ive been looking for a decent suspension thread. Thank you for the input. My b13 se-r is alot quick than the 2000 civic ex i just bought ,but nissan parts are so ridiculously exspensive. Im not trying to make mine fast im more into handling. If i wanted fast i would have started with a fast car.

Nice write up.
Funny picture for no reason, other than, as a honda enthusiast I have to laugh every once in a while.

Good info. Minus shocks and springs, for regular maintenance what do you recommend as far as control arms, tie rods, ball joints, etc? For someone like myself who wants a modest drops (1in-1.5in) and plans to use the car as a DD and no tracking, would you recommend an ebay brand or is there a more trusted reliable company for general maintenance for Honda's? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, this really isn't the thread for that type of question. It's just to give you some information and point you in a direction.

Did you not read the part on shocks?
Shocks
Like I said previously, don't lower your car on stock shocks or OEM replacement shocks. I used to be under the belief that a "mild drop" of 1-1.5" would be okay since that's what was going around on the forums and in the magazines. There is even some self-proclaimed "expert" that boldly states that shocks cannot be blown!!! THIS IS OBVIOUSLY WRONG!!! The act of lowering by itself doesn't blow the shock. Neither does driving them lowered. But all it takes is one good pothole, speedbump, curb, median, etc. and that shock is gone. Ask me how I know. Stock/OEM replacement shocks were never designed to operate at anything but their stock height.

CLICK HERE all of you curious about suspension setups and their costs/reliability.
I had ebay coilovers... worst idea ever, trust me don't waste your time. If you're really just looking for a drop for aesthetics and mating it up with your stock shocks, settle with Tein S.Techs. There's two on the marketplace for sell right now under $150:

"Brand new tein S Tech lower spring $140 fits 96-00 civic "
