Hey, I have a 99 Si. And just yesterday my car started making a funny noise. When im drifting down the road in gear it makes this grinding noise from under the car. but if i hit either the gas or the brake it goes away while my foots on one of the pedals. the moment i take my foot off the noise is back. sometimes its make a quick noise when i hit the lutch too. but only sometimes.

any idea what this could be?

drifting as in , not accelerating. trying to get the point across that im not pushing the gas

pretty sure that might be the throw out bearing....may be wrong, but

yea, throwout bearing or input shaft bearing. my car has the same problem.

my friend has been driving with a messed up bearing for a while , but he hasn't done anything to it yet

Maybe a lose heat shield ??

if its a reasonably loud grinding when you're off the gas, most likely its your input shaft bearings in your tranny.

if it is a bearing you should fix it now while it is only one or two bad ones let it go and you might as well junk the tranny
