Default Full head gasket kit question.

I am wondering if a full head gasket kit for a d16z6 would come with the lower spark plug o rings. I'm not sure if that's the correct term for them. They are under the rocker assembly. I have oil in my spark plug tube. I already replaced the valve cover and top spark plug gaskets.

I found some oem ones for other honda motors just not mine. Also I have some old gaskets and o-rings laying around from a head gasket set that never got used. So I might have them But don't want to tear the car apart and find out they aren't right and have to try to find and order some anyway

The D16Z6 motor came in EX & SI models years 1992-1995 so it should have rocker arm O-rings. You didn't state the year, model and transmission type but here's what I found:

online which looks like (diagram #5) those O-rings do come with it. I ordered a D16Y8 head gasket kit from them a month ago and it was the lowest price OEM that I found. Use all OEM gaskets and not the kits from local auto parts stores.

The oil in my spark plug tubes is mostly likely the lower o rings right? If I changed the valve cover and upper spark plug gaskets already .

As long as you did a proper job on the spark plug hole gaskets and you know for sure that they're not leaking then there's only two other ways for oil to get in the tubes.

1) Through worn out rocker arm O-ring gaskets (as you suspect)
2) Spark plug threads are stripped, spark plug is loose and that cylinder has a bad oil ring.

Most likely it's not #2

The d16z6 does not have lower spark plug tower/tube seals. Those are on the non vtec motors up to 1995.

If you still are getting oil in your spark tubes then there is likely something still wrong with the upper seals that are in the valve cover.

And before someone tries to call BS, here is the FSM pages, note the design differences between the Z6 (vtec) and B7 (non vtec) and the lack of seals on the Z6 that are there in the B7:

I'll second that. the exception being the OP sees "D16Z6" stamped on the block, but someone has sold him a car or engine with a non-VTEC head on it. (I've had a few friends buy what they thought were un-modified, used cars only to have me point out that their heads don't match their blocks or manifolds don't match trim level, ect.)

other side of the coin; most "top end" kits or "head gasket kits" i've purchased from various sources including eBay and Rockauto have included all O-rings and gaskets for all variants of a particular engine. chances are good that non-VTEC spark plug tube seals would be included in a Z6 kit anyway.

That's a really good point, definitely could be a swapped head situation....
