Default obd2 to obd1

I recently bought a 1998 Honda civic ex d16y8 nonvtec 5 speed car, has a stock obd2 computer system-ect in the car, im not happy with the performance this gives. I thought I would order a pherible ecu with a good revlimter setting and have it tuned "Neptune" and go from there only problem is im not any good with wiring or any of that. can someone please tell me how to do it thank you!

D16Y8 is SOHC VTEC. If its an OBD1 ECU you'll have to use an OBD2A-OBD1 ECU adapter. However this will not connect with a scanner so if you have emissions testing where they plug it in you'll auto fail. However doing just a "tune" without enough power adders will not do much for you and as far as rev limit without a cam and other mods your car will not make power past the factory rev limit.

If you aren't happy with the "performance" from a stock, 1.6L single cam motor, maybe you should have bought something that was actually made for performance? D series engines were made by Honda to sip gas while driving people to and from work, the grocery store, out to the movies, up to dinner...

A Civic is not a performance car. It is a grocery getter. You aren't going to change the ECU and magically make gobs of power. It doesn't work that way.
