well stock is 180 i currently have and my temp is no where close to halfway mark. i also do believe it should b a 195. cause then it would hold the coolant longer and release hotter fluid creating hotter temp for whole system correct?

ah ok, i thought the stock was 195 my fault.

are you sure your thermostat isn't stuck open?

also from my personal experience, none of my civics or my R make it to halfway in the temp gauge, i'm pretty sure that's just normal. They aren't buried on cold like it sounds you are describing, but usually just under half by about a needle and a half width.

I have had 4 civics so far (2 EGs and 2 Eks) neither of them would get to halfway mark on the temp gauge ever unless something was wrong. The 1/3 mark is a healthy place for the temp gauge to stick at.

Also, i believe your thermostat is fine if it is moving at all, especially if it is brand new!
