found this on my magnetic oil drain plug
can anyone tell me what this is? this was stuck to my magnetic oil drain plug when i did an oil change. im unsure if it was something that was in the bucket before, or from inside the oil pan. the bucket i drain the oil into has a plastic mesh on top, and im sure i didnt see anything on it before i drained the oil into it. i dropped the plug on top of the mesh, and then when the oil was drained, i went to wipe the plug to put it back in the oil pan, i found this piece of metal tube stuck to the magnetic plug. i tried to bend it, and its pretty tough, it wouldnt bend. what is this?

that's definitely the neck of an oil jet. Looks like it took a rod hit on its way down the crank case. Pull the oil pan off and take a look up into the cylinder bores. The Jets spray up into the cylinders. You will have to rotate the crank to get a proper view of them

WTH! youre right. well, looks like it has been pinched off. my engine sounds ok though. i guess oil needs to flow through this tube. do know if this may of affect any other components in the block? is this something i should get fixed right away? money is tight around the holidays. ill eventually need to get this looked at.

Re: found this on my magnetic oil drain plug
It's actually not going to be that expensive to replace them as long as the piston/rod/cylinder/crank was not damaged by the jet. I'd pull the oil pan off and see what's going on in there. Look for signs of scoring, deep scratches, irregularities. Honestly the only way to be sure would be to pull it apart. But since that's not really an option, check for any signs of cracks in the components. If the motor is not making any abnormal noises or burning oil you may have lucked out.
I'm wondering if the jet assembly came loose or if the jet was faulty ejected due to oil pressure.

Some tuners remove them entirely to increase oil pressure elsewhere. The jets are spring loaded and open under at specific oil pressures. It wont damage the engine, but now one of your cylinders is not getting the oil Honda intended it to, which over time will reduce the life of the motor

Re: found this on my magnetic oil drain plug
You can access them with a long extension and a ratchet. Your best bet is Honda or Acura, but they are pricey for what they are. You could scan ebay or craigslist first for a better deal. I had to replace one when I built my motor. An iron filing jammed the jet open.

Re: found this on my magnetic oil drain plug
sure looks like oil squirters i would try to get it fixed asap but u could probably get a new block cause it could be cheaper but i might be wrong
EDIT: didn't see other posts had this thread open a while but like others said if nothing else is damaged it would be cheap but if everything has damage time for a rebuild

Re: found this on my magnetic oil drain plug
You can replace it by dropping the pan and a 1/4" drive rachet. I would clean the pan as well and not rev your motor high rpm's till you get it fixed
