Re: Flood Damage?!? (importdreamer)
I didn't notice any electrical damage or anything when it happened it was litterally right outside my apt complex on the main road so when it finally did start, i just drove it right in and let it sit, this morning I went to check on it thinking it would hopefully have dried out...and its still making the same noises....so what do u suggest i do?

Well once it is making noise it is pretty much a done deal. Sadly if it turns out to be an internal motor problem you are pretty SOL... the question before yourself now is how mechanically inclined are you?

pull the spark plugs and take the distributor cap off and let it all dry out. After a while crank the car over with the plugs out. Then put the plugs back in and try to start it. You might have bent a valve or two.

Well you will need to find where the noise is really coming from. But if it does turn out there is water damage in the engine... you are prob looking at replacing it or the damaged parts. But then again you may get lucky and find something stupid with it

How would I do a compression test? And what are the dangers of me driving it as is? I don't want to but I may have to drive it to a shop.

Re: (importdreamer)
you could pull the valve cover and turn the motor over by hand and as each cylinder comes to tdc look for any valves springs that ar stuck in the down poss. But before you do that pull all 4 plugs out pull the ecu fuse or the fuel pump fuse a friend crank the car over with the key a few times look for any moisture being pushed out of the spark plug holes. Reinstall plugs and wires and start the car. More then likely the damage is all ready done
