Are you sure you have your vtec solenoid wired up?

You should definitely notice an increased engine sound when vtec engages.

a d-series won't "pop"(kick in) as loud as the b-series does.

a d15b is practically the same as a d16z6 except
1.) its JDM
2.) it has 3 stage vtec

so a single cam you cant hear vtec kick in...at least not my z6. but im 99% sure all sohcs vtecs are the same as far as the quiet factor goes. lol

Try driving in Sport mode and increasing your rpm's, if your econo lights kicking on and off then you must be at low rpm's or in Economy mode? Also, do you have a 5 speed? Or a MMT?

i think it depends on the exhaust and cam that you have...

on my z6 when i had stock exhaust i couldn't hear it kick in at all... once i added an exhaust and a skunk 2 stage 1 cam, i started hearing it around 4900-5000 rpm...

well earz, if its an EK3, then it will probably have Vtec-e

if this is the case, you wont hear it "kick-in" because the engine doesnt change cam, the economy vtec will only operate all 16valves above a certain RPM, otherwise it will only be using 12 valves
