i just came to realized that my cooling fan is not turning on, however the car does not over heat unless it idles for a long period of time. So i decided to test the fan by running a straight wire from the battery and fan turned on, it is good. then jump the relay from one corner to the other which is supposed to turn on the fan fan does not come on. Do you guys think it could be the Coolant Fan Switch? however if you jump the relay socket from one side to the other with a piece of wire isn't the fan supposed to turn on?? Thanks for any input...

1st thing to always check. and yes if you disconnect the cooling fan temp switch and jump the two wires together it should turn on. Try fuses first, then check that the fan spins manually and isn't broken, then try jumping the temp switch. If it comes on when you jump the switch it could be a bad fan switch or even a blown headgasket, i've seen that before. there is too much air pressure in the sytem and the sensor doesn't respond correctly.

but prob a fuse check all your fuses with a multimeter.

my bad, i forgot to make the input. i have also check my fuses too.. they all good.. I'mma try to jump the Temp sensor and the switch tomorrow and see what i get.. but the fan works fine when i ran it straight from the battery with an external wire.. so the fan and motor assambly are good.

well if the fan is good and the fuses are good you have 3 possibilities.

1. wiring problem/ground not hooked up.

2. bad fan switch, easy to test,

3. blown head gasket, is there excessive pressure in your hoses, like they are ballooning out and feel rock hard?

actually not, the hoses are pretty good and everything.. i do know if this happened because i change the thermostat. before i change the thermostat the fan was working, once i put the new one the fan never wanted to come on..

I had the same problem when i replaced my thurmo, I had to bleed the air out forever, fan started working.

Coolant temp sensor maybe, just a thought.

does the car actually begin to overheat?

i have checked all the sensor and they are good, also the coolant level is fine. And yes the car does begin to overheat after the car sit and idles for a while, but only when is hot outside. Right now is not doing due to the cold weather, or if i drive it wont over heat neither.
