Default Exhaust Size (1998 EX)

Hello! I am a newbie and just got my first Honda. It is a 1998 Civic EX with a VTEC. I am looking to put a new muffler on it. What size is the exhaust? Also, I don't want a muffler that will sound like a mosquito or just plain sloppy. I am looking for something that will give it a relatively quiet and lower tone. Would something like a Magnaflow muffler do that for me? Thanks!!!

I considered a cat-back system but I also considered the price lol. Its a great car, but not worth putting 400-500 into the exhaust alone. Also, I was told that they would just make it far too loud? So those two types you suggest will give it more of a throaty tone? Thanks!

A name brand high quality exhaust will always sound much better than some cheap weld in muffler. You dont want the mosquito "ricer" sound but i can bet you that with a magnaflow muffler and stock sized piping you will be buzzing around town.

ws2 and vibrant and any oval magnaflow will sound fine as a weld in muffler.

and as said above those are both well known to be quiet systems. you can you tube most things to see how loud they are but most of those are not stock engines either.
