Engine swaps shops in South Florida--Anyone?
I am considering an engine swap for my hacth but I do not have the equipment to do it myself.
Anyone knows of any import performance shops in South Florida (Miami, Kendall, Homestead area)?
Anyone done swaps, prices?
I am looking at a B18C5 or H20...
Thanks

I think there is a JDM Motorsports located in the Miami area.. Not totally sure.. I've heard great things about them.. Ask Maxboost on this board.. He lives in the Miami area and can give you good info.. Good luck..

Thanks for the tip.
Now I gotta decide if I keep the 93 hatch and do the swap or buy a 00 hatch and do the swap a year or so later.
Thanks

Come to GRTechnologies we can beat all those shops. We have one of the fastest street Civics in south florida (Motormatrix) with 565hp, we also have a 667hp race hatch with a h22 setup (GR), and just recently purchased another race hatch that should see 600+ hp (Sherbaz). We are located in Ft. Lauderdale. If you have any questions just let me know.

I would defiantly consider going to any shop beforehand and feeling out the surroundings prior to having your swap done. The reason I say this is unfortunately not all shops are TRUSTWORTHY. I’m sure I don’t have to elaborate on that one. Just because a shop has a 500+hp car, doesn’t mean that they won’t involuntary reposes their engine and your car. JUST CHOOSE WISELY.
JDMotorsports Miami FL, (305)255-7223 --- Jared
This shop is located 1hr. each way from my home but, the security that a competent and trustworthy mech./tech. will be handling the work is worth the drive.

Re: Engine swaps shops in South Florida--Anyone? (nerdsports)
Hey Guys,
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.
Anyone knows about LOCAL places to go buy a B18C5 or H22 complete swap? Or Am I better off going to the usual websites?
I was thinking that maybe it was easier to buy the swap locally, might be easier to ensure the engine is in good shape, serial numbers, etc.

Hey JAPPWR:
What swap did he do for you and when, how much did it cost you? Was it a complete swap (engine, tranny, ecu, harness, linkage cables, axles, sensors, IM, EM, A/C compressor and PS pump, mounts, etc?
Where did u get the engine from?
Thanks bud.

Re: Engine swaps shops in South Florida--Anyone? (jappwr)
JAPPWR:
I most definitely will call him once I decide to either keep my 93 hatch or buy a 2000 hatch for the swap.
BTW, do you know where the best place is to get a B18C1/B18C5, or a B-20 complete swap? I am thinking that if I decide to get the B18, it will be the B18C1 since I am thinking to boost that motor eventually, but I am also debating on the B-20. WHich one you think is the most cost effective, more power for the money, and easier to drop in the hatch?
Thanks

Jared specializes in swaps and building motors, but the man can do almost anything to a honda. His overall knowledge on Honda's is very impressive..
He built my motor, and pretty much everyone I know has a motor built by him. If you need some convincing go over there and take a ride in the shop hatch. You definately won't think twice after a ride in that thing..

Re: Engine swaps shops in South Florida--Anyone? (MaxBoost)
maxboost:
I need some advice.
I am trying to decide whether to swap in a B18C1, a B18C5, or a B-20 into a hatch.
questions:
Which motor is easiest to swap in?
Which one gives me more bang for the money in the long term (yes I kn ow that a C1 with a turbo is better than a C5 stock)?
Which is cheapest to install and later modify?
My main purpose is to have power, not necesarily to race but to have it when I need it. It will go into a 93 hatch or a 2000 hatch, have not decided which one yet.
Which motor is cheaper to work on later for mods, etc?
I am definitely not going in with a H-22 given all the comments I have seen about it later.
Thanks

Re: Engine swaps shops in South Florida--Anyone? (Happyman)
i went to MCA motorsports for my swap and everything else i have on my car. I've been to a lot of guys and i've stuck with MCA for over a year now and i'll never go to anyone else. Mike(the owner) has been working for honda since around 1985 and is 1 of 2 certified NSX mechanics in FL. He has his own all motor Type R that make 315 wheel hp.
I would not go to SFP because they don't know **** about honda's. I wouldn't go to Jared because my friend just went to him for a b18c5 swap and got really really screwed. I've only heard good things about Cybernation but i've never been there and there's someone a little up north name John Brown and supposedly he's a bad *** to but i'm not sure. My mechanic is Mike from MCA. I've spent a lot of money with him and never been screwed. Plus he stands behind his work. Give him a call at 305 251-5095
