Folks!

Suddenly, my honda civic EX (1.6L; auto trans began to idle unsteadily. When I start it cold, it goes to 2000 rpm, and stays there for awhile (minutes). Then as it warms up, the idle pulses from 500 - 1500 rpms in sudden but rythmetic pulses. after it warms up, the idle rpms drop below 500, and eventually low enough to kill the engine. If I put it in gear, it will kill the engine.

If I drive it after it warms up, it runs fine at 30 mph plus, but if I come to a stopsign, and the ldle will drop until it dies, unless I accelerate the idle. Usually when I do this, the engine will not respond beyond barely hanging on and running rough. then suddenly, it will jump to 1500 or 2000 rpm. then I can quickly put it in drive and take off.

I get no engine check light. I know the engine check light works, because I pulled the connector off the idle air control valve while the engine was on and it immediately died, and the engine check light came on.

So. What do you think i should check/repair?

sounds like its the map sensor
sensor on top of the throttle body.
check your sparkplug wires too for sputtering.
i would change your hole throttle body
prolly get new 1 in junk yard for 50 bucks if that...
