Default IAT

i broke my IAT on my z6. the little nipple on the end broke off and i just shoved it inside the intake manifold because i'm too cheap to go and buy one. no CEL or anything, but will this cause me to get poor gas milage, i only get like 235 miles for a full tank?

The IAT is a thermal resistor so if you broke it off, the ECU won't be able to calculate air density based on incoming air temp so most likely you will be running rich. So yes, it will hurt your mileage if it hasn't already. 235 /tank stinks

It's possible. When the IAT reads colder temps it tells the ecu to throw more fuel in the engine. Your broken IAT may be giving erroneous cold readings.

damn, just bought one from HONDA and they charged me 18 bucks with the little screws!!!!

hope my gas milage gets better with this new one? anyone know the color wires that plug into the IAT in a 94 civic ex d16z6? i plugged up the ones to the IACV and the pruge solenoid.....i think i hooked it up right just becuase all 3 of these sensors have the same plug but different colors, so if anyone knows the color wires of which goes where, that would be great!!!!

thanks
