Default eg, d15b7, runs fine below 3000 rpm, won't rev past it, please help

The problem started all of a sudden about 4 days ago. I drove the car up on ramps to make it easier to work on and then I did a compression check. After I replaced the spark plugs and wires and restarted the engine I noticed that it wouldn't rev past 3000 rpms. It ran fine before I did the compression check and the compression was good too. It's a 95 with 100,000 miles. The car will top out at about 80 mph at 3200 rpm if I don't give it full throttle. If I give it full throttle it will immediately sound like its not getting any gas or maybe spark. I have an MSD distributor cap with a large Accell external coil that has been working fine for a ferw months now. When I was trying to figure out what was wrong with it I pulled the connector off the tps sensor and it conked out and I think that is when the cel came on. I didn't notice if it was already on before I did that. I got a code 4 when I checked it and my Haynes manual says to check the crank angle sensor(CKP). I checked it with my ohmmeter as well as the other 2 sensors wired to the same harness connector, the TDC sensor and the CYP sensor. They all checked out fine. I wasted money on new plug wires and they didn't help. I tested the fuel injector ohms and they were all good. I have a brand new airfilter. I want to check the fuel pressure to see if the fuel pump is the problem but I haven't made a special bolt to screw into the fuel filter yet. I went to the dealership and asked if I could buy the part from them that they would use to check the fuel pressure and they were no help. The engine was making a rapid pop pop pop sound and had no power when I would try to rev past 3000. A guy I know thought it could be that my bosch platinum plugs were burned up and I checked them again and he was sorta right because the platinum tip was rounded over and slightly recessed from the edge of the ceramic that supports it. I thought I found my problem and put my stock plugs back in that I had saved for the last year since they were still good. It made the engine sound better but it still won't rev past 3000. Now it doesn't make the sputtering pop pop pop sound at 3000 but it dies for a second as the engine tries to jump past 3000 and catches again as it slows a little to below 3000. I have been reading this forum for a t least a year since I got my first Honda and I never had a problem till now and didn't know enough to be posting any replies to anyone else. Also I'm installing my pieced together turbo kit during my vacation at the end of May. I'm using Uberdata and I have a PLX devices R500 wideband on the way if anyone lives in my area and would like to help me out . (Mobile, AL) Sorry for the long post but I wanted to cover what I have tried so far to make it easier for y'all to help me.

I know it's a dumb question, but the popping sound makes me think ignition. Did you recheck to make sure the wires were correctly put back?

I'm sure the wires are hooked up correctly since I only pulled them off the plugs and the way they are different lengths they could only go back the same way. I tried disconnecting the battery to reset the check engine light to see if it would come back on but it didn't help. How long do you have to leave the battery unhooked? I only had it off for about a minute at the most.

hello.. I have been searching all over the net trying to find someone that has a lot of knowledge about the older hondas. I have a 1991 honda crx I bought with a hopefully minor problem. First off the guy swapped the motors. The crx now has a 1992 B18 dohc engine in it that was out of a 1992 Acura Integra. 5 speed car. He said he BELIEVES it has the 0bd1 computer in it and the stock integra wiring harness. I don’t know **** about imports so im taking his word on this. The problem with the car is it wont run past 3000 RPM's. Idles and starts fine. but in any gear your in it wont go past 3000 rpm and sorta just bogs down after you hit that point? the computer is spitting out the crank sensor code but its a new dizzy? Can you guys please help me? You can reach me at 574-806-5750. thanks a ton
Anthony

^The crank senor code is almost surely the cause. If you are sure the distributor is fine, then the code may be due to a bad crank sensor wire (two run to the ECU) or even a bad ECU.
