Door lock won't unlock
So I go out to my car today (99 Civic SI) and the drivers side door won't open. I'm like WTF? So go and the passengers side opens just fine. Go back around to the drivers and notice when I try to use the key to unlock it it's very stiff. I look through the window to see when I turn the key and the lock unlocks it immediately locks itself again. Any ideas what it could be? Weather isn't the best right now so can't fool with it, just want a heads up to check when it clears up.

check the rods in the door to see if they're hung up. You're gonna have to probably remove the interior handle while the door is still closed and then play with the rods. Once you get the door open, take the door panel off and try using some silicone grease spray on the door latch from inside the door. It sounds to me like your latch mechanism is a little corroded or dirty and just needs some lubrication.

I'm assuming so. It's like it doesn't want to unlock. So when I put pressure on it and force it to unlock (can see the lock tab inside flip out) it immediately locks itself again. I'll unplug the battery and try it. If it doesn't do it I know it's the power door locks mech.

No stereo in it lol Sold the one it came with and looking for a replacement climate bezel (that isn't retardedly priced) so rocking the empty slot. Not to mention getting to the fuse panel will be a PITA with the door shut.

"Fixed" it. I forced it to unlock again. Got in from the passenger side and put pressure on the door and it popped open. Sprayed the release mech with some WD40 ( no grease at hand) and it pops open just fine. It's been raining and very humid so I guess it had semi seized.

Re: Door lock won't unlock
Yeah I normally wouldn't have posted something so simple/dumb, but considering the weather I just wanted a good idea of what it could be. Glad it was something simple though. I remember when the door on my Del Sol messed up and was missing a little spring on the inside of the door. If you locked the door it would pop the spring loose and couldn't get the door open without taking the door completely apart. Never fixed it before I sold it, just rolled around with unlocked doors. Thankfully theft isn't a big issue here.
