Default winter driving info... ugh

certainly not a pleasant topic... ugh

not sure how many of you need to push your whips through the winter but i am going to have to this year [210k mile explorer is getting expensive to drive and maintain ]...

doing some research i came across this site which i found an interesting read. thought i'd share

http://www.snowtire.info/

i actually have a set of these canadian snow trakkers

but i am looking for something else that will be decent in the snow and still offer 1/2 way decent dry weather performance. winter sucks...

think i am going to go blizzak. what do you guys use?

Dude those tires look baad-***!

I would recommend getting a beater winter front bumper so you don't tear up your good one and obviously take off your lip if you have one.

I'll be running all seasons because in nova snow days are few and far between.

How much snow do you actually get in the winter?

I picked up a set of Hankooks w/ studs in them a few months ago from tires.com or tirerack.com, forget exactly. They came mounted on steelies for $400 shipped, not a bad deal. Studded snows + MT in winter = win. Snow + ice in Mass = suck.

Well If you are in Canada

You can get Canadian Tire Nordic Ice Tracs.

There kind of a Performance winter tire. Plus there good on Ice and Snow

I have them on my EM1.

14" Steelies and 195/60/14 tires.

Yes they come in 60 series and they are S Rated to 180 Km/h or 112 Mph where most winter tires are Q rated to 160 Km/h or 100 MPH.

They are little noiser then All Seasons but they ride well and handle pretty good for a winter tire.
