As all things go, I hit a roadblock. Looks like my flywheel has heatspots, so I need a new one.
I'm trying to find a fidanza or ACT for cheap right now. If I knew this, I would've gotten the combo deal from the ebay dealer over just the clutch kit.
I just got informed my knock sensor is broken. It snapped when he removed it. Bad day.

I got quoted 154 shipped for a fidanza 7lb. Is this fine for a DD? My flywheel is an ACT 11lb I believe.

i'd look into an exedy steel flywheel. aluminum is ok, but IMO for a daily i'd get a steel unit. there is more to go wrong with an Al unit and the super lightweight units can be a pain in a daily NA setup.

the ACT unit you have can't be machined?

i'd try another if you can. it might be the ring gear on the flywheel, but probably is the starter pinion not extending properly.

so you put the engine together with the beat flywheel? i don't get it...

Oh, I ended up ordering an exedy 10.9lb. I'm not sure if it's the fact I have an actual 99-00 EX transmission, or the flywheel, but my mpg got worse and the gears are a lot shorter. I'm glad since it accelerates better, but I'm sad because I want to speed more and my gas mileage is getting worse.

They forgot to swap my old spark plugs in, so I need to do that myself.
I just posted based on what my friend said.
It grinds after it starts. Maybe it's not retracting fast enough and being hit by the flywheel? It's a pretty hard grind, too. It's been so long since I've heard the car run properly. Is it normal that there's a deep hum when I'm driving? It's only when it's in gear. If I also do an engine brake in 1st or 2nd gear the humming becomes more noticeable but goes away once you accelerate again. Just throwing this out there as I forget what my car sounded like before.

Is there a reason my A/T starter won't work on it? When I swapped to manual I noticed they look exactly alike.

buying a k20 would've been easier. twin cam and newer vtec. that sensor can be replaced easily but that money wasn't worth the buy man. the 1.6y8 couldve been built to whip the zc

would've been easier, more expensive, and more time consuming.

yes i think way too much money was put into this engine swap, but once the parts were already ordered, can't really turn back.

I just need the car running well and legal-ish. I don't have the money nor the time to do a k-swap. I probably should've b-swapped if I knew everything was going to be broken, but who knew until it was taken apart and the engine was already bought.
