Default Defi VSD Basis HUD

I just ordered one at a good price from an h/t member. I'm curious if anyone has any experience with this unit on an eg or ek.. i have a 94 dx and chose to use this instead of buying a tach or jdm cluster. For anyone thats not familiar with this product it basically projects the mp/h, kp/h or rpm on the winshield...any info or pics would be great, i tried searching........

What do you mean it projects it on the windshield?

it projects a digital and alalog readout of your speed or rpm onto the winshield...like the 240sx coupe..

I remember I wanted to get this for my car because it helped me keep my eyes on the road. Well, I asked about it at another Honda community and was insulted saying that if I really needed my speed projected on the winshield then I coudldn't drive for ****, then again I only went to that other community because nobody here was answering my questions with respect.

So it's nothing new to me, glad you got one, but I'll be ok with my clusters..

Based on the description from the link above, this will only display one function at a time, correct? It doesn't have an option for different colored LED's/projection from what I read which is a definate downside IMO. And, I honestly don't see it being worth the cost. Obviously, I have no experience, so please do a detailed write up after your installation & give us your review.

dj, actually the chart says you can have both functions displayed at the same time..however 1 will be a digital readout and the other the analog LED readout....u can actually toggle between the different functions..in terms of led color i belive there is red and blue avail. in terms of price..it came down to me buying an ex cluster for 80-100+ or a jdm cluster for 150 or a stand alone tach....so for 150 this served my purpose well..but we'll see when i get it installed..

as far as being hated on, thats pretty lame imo..bottom line is its your car..if u find value in a feature..go for it! I dont see how having a heads up display justify you as a bad driver...if i took my guage cluster out completely would that make me a better driver?

I'm not hating at all, when you put it in the terms that you have, i.e. buying this instead of a monster tach, or new cluster, I can certainly see the value in it. If the review comes out favorable, and you can display several functions at once, and the display is available in red, I may actually consider getting one as my cluster is taking a **** on me....

Edit: Dude, I'm a freakin dumba$$, and have been all week I didn't even notice in your original post where you provided your reasoning

ok guys..i got the HUD installed last night..havent figured out the speed(mph) part yet..but i got the tach part of it hooked up..the install was pretty simple..so far i love it! heres a quick pick...i havent installed the piece of tint film that the unit came with..i think it helps get rid of the double vision..

thanks to h/t member Marty T for getting me a great deal on this unit...

OMG!!!! Your doing 240MPH in your driveway!!!!! Wow that actually looks bright, I though it would look all dim during daylight hours. Is it always that bright or is it because you were in a little shade when you took the pic? I think you definitely got a good buy.

lol, i havent had time to play with the speedo part yet..it is very bright during the daytime.. it has 3 brightness settings: 1%, 5%, and 100%..1% and 5% are perfect for driving at nigh...5% and 100 are good for the daytime..

i have 1, just waitin to get it fitted. i too wanted somethin to show rpm and decided id give this a try over a tacho. dont like glancin at my oem tacho all the time and hopin this will suit my needs.

beleive theirs few versions. i have the above but theirs 1 that shows speed and digital tacho (like s2000) at same time. more expensive though

Whats that reflector sticker you were talking about? You should shoot a video of it actually working while your driving. So we all get a good idea of how it looks in action

this bad boy got a shift light? caz i been thinking about gettin one. because of my smaller momo wheel it blocks my speedo and my tac the top half of it so its very hard for me to take a quick glance i have to slouch over to see.
this will solve that.
