Got some new bolt gasket/washers for my bro's del Sol Si valve cover. Now how the hell do you get the old ones off and the new ones on? The only way I could figure out is to cut the rubber portion of the old ones, and then use a hammer/mallet to hammer the bolts through the new ones. Why does it have to be such a PITA?? It almost looks as if they weren't meant to be changed (i.e. buy new bolts w/ washers already installed), but if that's the case, then why do they sell them separately? We ordered them as part of a whole top-end gasket kit, with the valve cover gasket, spark plug tube gaskets, and valve cover bolt gaskets all included.

I assume that you're talking about sliding #14 onto #12 and #13 you're going to have to use oil to "stretch" the new grommets over that 'lip'

as far as #4 goes. use a flathead to pry the old ones out and use oil to help slide the new ones in.

I am bringing this back from the dead... i have had no luck of "stretching" these at all... lubricated with oil, and stil no luck... any one have any helpful hints?

Try silicone spray and some more muscle. It will work

heat them basters up in some water and the stretch them on there with some silicone spray as 90civicstdgold said they shouldnt be that hard to put on did you get them from honda or did you just order them from an autoparts store?

Bense, Where did you find that parts manual? I am looking for the size of the bolt and thread. are they M6x1.00?
