d16y8 turbo, labour of love
i have a 99 civic ex, with a greddy emanage piggy back, i think 310 fuel injectors (more or less), and i believe a td04 turbo.
the enigine is causing me some problems being that its 170k mi.
i have a guy that wants to rebuild my motor with replacing all the internals.
im guessing vitara/eagle set up, thats what most people seem to go with, and gaskets, cams, pulleys, lighter flywheel, 3 puck clutch, fuel rail, fuel pump, and all that jazz. he's saying all that internal work with a good dyno tuning will reach a reliable 300-350 whp if my t4 is running 10-15 psi. hes offering all this at under 5 grand.
i would be happy if that can give me close to 300 whp - even close to 300 at the crank. i want my engine to run a 8500-9000 redline, RELIABLY.
im not a boy racer, just want some juice in my daily drive (even a solid 200-250whp should put a smile on my face) ... sheesh 350whp without lsd??? umm, thats a tad ridiculous
i have a skunk short shifter, skunk adjustable height coilovers (its a wee stiff, but after they break in, its bareable), skunk camber kit, apex worldsport catback.
im near NYC, if you know good dyno-tuners that can get my rig running tip top under 5000 smackers, id appreciate some info on that as well.
so to sum up:
1. will all that work come close to 250-350whp?
2. will the d16y8 tranny even handle that type of power??? (id figure after 200whp, the tranny would be stressed like spitzer)
3. im getting all this junk installed, i need a down-to-earth reliable tuner near NYC to get my baby running its potential SAFELY, you know anyone?
