D16y7/y8 differences
What are the difference between the y7 and y8 block, are they the same? Would my D16y7 with a y8 head be less appealing than a complete d16y8?

No offense, but WTF does less appealing mean if it works the same as the Y8? Who are you attempting to appeal to?

It doesn't work the same as the Y8. He's wondering why it should appeal more to him.

Re: D16y7/y8 differences (SHAUNTS99)
I was just wondering if the block and internals were the same, regardless of wether the heads are different (Vtec and non-vtec). The bottom line is, is a D16y7 and D16y8 the same motor with different heads, one Vtec and one not vtec?
I was wondering if it would be an appealing swap (to me) if the heads were different, but everything else the same. That way I can buy just the head, ECU, and save money temporarily. I'm not factoring in the differences in the tranny because I'll have an EX tranny soon enough.
