if you put the y8 tranny on a y7 motor then all you will have is a DX with shorter gears. If you put a y8 head on the y7 motor that will make it cool and a bit faster. I hear it only makes about 10 horse more than a stock EX would make.
But everything bolts up. Good luck.

are you saying that a y7 block witha a y8 head makes 10hp more than a y8 block and head?? if that was right, the mini me would make like 137 (not wheel)hp. for some reason that doesnt sound right but i could be wrong

How would a mini-me have more Hp than a stock Ex??

Bolting on a Y8 tranny to a Y7 block is an EXCELLENT upgrade on its own.

Well....of course it would help.

Slapping on a tighter geared tranny will help you accelerate a bit quicker; slapping on a VTEC head would increase tq/hp which would also help you accelerate quicker.

y7 with a y8 head doesn't make more power than a standard EX. this is because EX has diffrent piston and compresssion rate.

true, personally i have a y7 with a y8 head and a y7 tranny but am going back to the stock y7 head and slapping on the y8 tranny for some more fun, the y7/y8 minime has too many freaking sensors that it is looking for

B7/Z6 ownz j00!!!!

But yeah to the thread starter, a Y7 with a Y8 tranny will feel 10x better than stock, and if you throw a more aggressive cam in there it will feel even better than a Y8

Assuming that the online CR calculators are correct, a y7 block w/y7 pistons + y8 head will yield a higher CR than a stock y8 setup. So makes sense that a y7/y8 mini-me will make slightly more power than a stock y8.

anyone with a dyno of a minime jump in anytime....

I'm fairly knowledged about this, and a y8 tranny and head will make a large improvment. I would deffinatley do it. then go turbo. lol

im gonna wire up the knock sensor soon, but i havent gotten a clear answer on ht about the fuel tank pressure sensor, i think you need to switch out the whole damn gas tank and charcoal canister and aslo acquire a purge solenoid, either that or wire in a resistor to trick the ecu

So what about swapping the ecu?? And if it would help, which one would you swap to?
