Re: Consistent rotational knocking noise when turning left or right while on the gas
Well i snapped one axle, and got the autozone replacement. Its only been on my car for less than a month. Car is lowered, but im raising it back up tomorrow. And then this started happening. I need to search for what the measurement is end to end on the axles to make sure they are within spec. You dont know by chance do you?

Re: Consistent rotational knocking noise when turning left or right while on the gas
I'm a little late it looks like but yeah, axles being the wrong length can cause a binding action to occur and this knocking sound you get when turning and being on gas is a typical sound from this.
I had the same issue/sound on the first set of axles I bought for my K20 swapped 95 Civic. I couldn't figure it out until I really analyzed the way the CV joints work and then it dawned on me that being too long caused some binding/contact issues. I sold those $800 DSS stage II race axles for like $300 to a drag racer and bought some $400 Gators that worked better.

man, i have the same issue and it's been driving me crazy for a year and a half. damn autozone... so because the car is lowered it basically stretches out the axle over time? wouldn't this just continue to happen axle after axle? are there axle's you can swap in to counteract this problem?

pretty good. Motorsports year round in nice weather!! I'm only doing AutoX though and not HPDE like I was. PAX wise I'm pretty consistently placing b/t 25-35 out of 100-120 participants. I won STX for the fall series but not all the hot shoes were running so I'd say I got 2nd. I have an extremely under modded STX car though. just drop springs, RSB, camber kits and wheels and tires. no power mods and unfortunately no coilovers. Been keepin it cheap and paying off some school debt and what not.. . damn college loans!!!

Wow! Ive been going crazy with mine, its doing the exact same thing, I grab the driver side axle next to half shaft and can move it like your video. I thought it was the Half shaft and ordered a new one if it dont work my axles are going back to Hasport for warranty exchage! thanks for the good reading and schooling!

Re: Consistent rotational knocking noise when turning left or right while on the gas
In my experience (5 times so far), it has always been the axle opposite the direction I am turning that was causing the knocking sounds. Just a tip for the future, but not the end-all be-all rule of knocking diagnosis. Just my experience.
But props to you for figuring it out.
Edit: and yes, it has only been while I was on the gas, not coasting on a turn.

Glad this thread is still of some help for others with the same problem.

Re: Consistent rotational knocking noise when turning left or right while on the gas
Just and FYI update. I installed new upper control arms on the front over the weekend and I have absolutely NO vibrations or clunkiness in the front of the car now. Everything seems to be tip-top now.

Re: Consistent rotational knocking noise when turning left or right while on the gas
So I went through your thread, and realized that I may be having the exact same issue as you. Is there anything that I can do to diagnose this problem specifically? Here's the run down on my car
98 Accord lx 4 cyl auto
Replaced CV axles with no problems around 8 months ago
Recently replaced shocks/struts/sway bar links
The sound only happens when going straight or turning right at 20mph or under
It seems to go away with application of gas pedal
However seems to also happen under all circumstances (braking, gasing, starting, coasting)
Most noticable on off-ramps as a "knocking" rotational sound
When inspected closely at slow speeds it sounds like a creaking, grinding noise
I see that you went through years and money to diagnose a CV axle. I also read that you replaced a few other suspension parts and now have NO noises. Any advice?
