Default Code 41??

I just got a 92-95 civic and was checking the cluster. I was very disappointed to see that the seller took the bulb out of the check engine light. But a new bulb back and behold, code 41. I think i read somewhere that it was the primary o2 sensor? How many o2 sensors are on the civic? 2? Primary and secondary? Is primary the closest one to the engine? How do I fix this? Gotta replace the o2 sensor? TIA!

On the 92-95 civic there is only 1 o2 sensor. It's on the manifold.

So does code 41 mean I need to replace the o2 sensor or is something wrong somewhere in the wiring?

the one thats on the car still looks new. I looked this up on the net and it says

Primary Oxygen Sensor - Heater
circuit malfunction

Do i still need to replace the o2 sensor?

It depends, do you have the stock motor in there or has it been swapped? If it's still the stock motor most likely it just needs to be replaced. I don't see why anything would be wrong with the wiring

Code 41 - Oxygen sensor heater - Check the heater for the proper voltage signal

The oxygen sensor produces not voltage when it is below its normal operating temperature of about 600-degrees F. Durig this initial period before warm up, the ECM operates in OPEN LOOP mode.

If the engine reaches normal operating temperature and/or has been running for 2 or more minutes, and if the oxygen sensor is producing a steady signal votage below .45-volts at 1500rpm or greater, the ECM will set a code1. The ECM will also set a code 41 or 48 if it detects any problem with the heater circuit.

When there is a problem w/ the oxygen sensor or its circuit, the ECM operates in the open loop mode - that is, it controls fuel delivery in accordance w/ a programmed default value instead of feadback info from the O2 sensor.

Hope this helps. Thanks Haynes

so what should I do? Is there anyway that I can findout if the O2 sensor is shot? I dont want to go out and buy an o2 sensor and find out that wasnt the porblem. I want to be sure that its a specific problem before I go out and buy replacement parts.

**EDIT** Stock d16z6 motor.

go find someone with a stock p28 ecu and see if its the same problem that i had. ask if you can just barrow it. stock p28 ecu go for 150$

when i replace my o2 sensor 3 time i got them for free and that wasnt even the problem..it was my damm ecu.
