Default Code 21 and 22 on a P75 ecu, wtf?

A customer of ours rolled into the shop today with a B18B swap in his 92 4 door because it was throwing up an engine code that he couldn't figure out.
Code 21 - Vtec solenoid
Code 22 - Vtec oil pressure

I am completely stumped - I don't even know where to begin. How is it possible for the ecu to throw codes, that for all it knows don't exist?

no, no problem at all. Sometimes the simpliest thing its the easiest to miss.
Of course we did double check the ECU, we also tried reseting the ecu, which seemed to get rid of code 21, but not code 22.

I posted a problem like this @ a year ago. I have a chipped p75 ecu throwning the cel 21. Everyone said i had the wrong ecu, couldn't find much help. I've had it running like that for over a year. To make things really odd, I put it on a vtec engine and the vtec doesn't engage. I talked to J.Davis when I accompanied a buddy during a tunning session and he said it was more than likely in the programming. I'd check to see if your customer has a chipped ecu. If you throw a virgin ls ecu on it i'm sure you'll lose the vtec cels.

My though is that the ECU is chipped, it would have to be to throw VTEC codes. Have you opened the ECU up at all?

I'll open it up today. Find out if it has been chipped or not.
