clutch pedal squeaks!
1998 honda civic ex
dx manual transmission
when i depress my clutch (when the cars off) it squeaks. i dont think its the pedal assembly because it sounds like the squeak is coming from the engine bay.
i know that my input shaft bearing is bad, but would that cause the squeak?

they are both wrong. there is nothing to lube. the squeeking noise does occur, but only happens when the car is cold. once it has warmed up and you have started driving, the noise disappears.

Re: (MiNDTRiP03)
Well, I examined my slave cylinder today. I pinpointed the noise coming from there as I had someone press on the clutch pedal. I pulled back the rubber sleeve just slightly to see if there was any dirt or corrosion on the cylinder linkage, and BAM, a huge stream of black liquid shot out all over the engine bay. Each time I pulled it back, more liquid. It's obviously the clutch fluid (DOT 3). So, new slave cylinder for me.

damn rude much?
To the OP, i've had this happen to me in my vehicle before as well. You can try to see if the noise is coming from the slave cylinder/clutch fork as ejoner said. Those moving parts when not lubed do make noise, sometimes it's noise generated from the tranny output shaft/throwout bearing not having any lube it can cause noise as well.
Or it can be your slave cylinder, internally making the noise.
Lube you can use if you want to go to honda, we use this stuff called hi temp urea grease at the dealership i'm at. Works well. Moly lube, red grease will work; autozone, advanced, etc.
Hope it helps.

that solves nothing.
its been determined what causes the squeak, i'm asking what the part looks like so i can grease it

it is a common squeek. if you want you can try to lube up the parts on the tranny which were already mention (IMO, it's not the problem). or you can try to lube up the M/C as well, where i don't know but if you do find a place and it works, share the wealth.

Re: (mr poo)
theres a mouse in your clutch line
leave some cheese in your seat with a very very very small bottle of vodka in the front seat with a blow up mouse
************ will be conked out in the front seat and all u have to do is pick him up, and put him in the woods
viola, problems solved
