Default Civic EM1 model in Japan?

I know we has the EM1 civic during the 99-00 years both in USA and Canada. It seems the Europe had a VTi model which was there version.

Did Japan get the B16 powered coupe, and what models did they have? I can only find hatches so far.

That is true but no coupes in japan in eg or ek models but you could make any coupe rhd by conversion unless u were to get a ukdm model like shown in the pic above

This is why I don't get how people can say, "OH DEMM YOUR EM1/EK COUPE IS HELLER JDM!", and while some are clones SI or EJ6's

Uh, there definitely were EK and EG coupes sold in Japan. Grated they did not come in SiR models, only VTi and eco models (which means D15/16) and I have never seen one that wasn't an auto from the factory...
All the Civic coupes were made by Honda of America and then sent to Japan where they had RHD firewalls installed.

Yes, there were JDM 6G Civic coupes. I am 100% sure as I've checked the JDM EPC and saw the selection in there.

They don't appear to have ever been a very popular model, perhaps having something to do with being the same size as the sedans, but with less room in the back seat and fewer doors.

Japanese 6G Civic models are as follows:

---------
-COUPES-
---------

1996-2000 Honda Civic Coupe STD
EJ7

D16A (1.6L SOHC VTEC-E)
CVT
118hp

---------
-HATCHES-
---------

1995-2000 Honda Civic EL hatch
EK2

D13B (1.3L SOHC non-VTEC)
4AT/5MT
~85hp (?)

1995-2000 Honda Civic Ri / Ri-II / VTi hatch
EK3

D15B (1.5L SOHC ?)
CVT/5MT
~100hp (?)

1995-2000 Honda Civic SiR / SiR-II hatch
EK4

B16A (1.6L DOHC VTEC)
4AT/5MT
160-170hp

1997-2000 Honda Civic Type-R hatch
EK9

B16B (1.6L DOHC VTEC)
5MT
185hp

---------
-SEDANS-
---------

1995-2000 Honda Civic Ferio EL-II
EK2

D13B (1.3L SOHC non-VTEC)
4AT/5MT
~85hp (?)

1995-2000 Honda Civic Ferio Mi / ML / Vi
EK3

D15B (1.5L SOHC VTEC)
CVT/5MT (?)
~100hp (?)

1995-2000 Honda Civic Ferio RTi (4WD)
EK5

D16A (1.6L SOHC non-VTEC)
4AT/5MT
~120hp

1995-2000 Honda Civic Ferio Si / Si-II
EK4

B16A (1.6L DOHC VTEC)
4AT/5MT
160-170hp

More evidence.

http://www.honda.co.jp/HOT/ModelData...509/index.html

The JDM 6G Civic Coupe was first offered January 1996. It was available only in the STD form, with a 1.6L VTEC-E D16A. It also came with an automatic, the Hondamatic transmission as they called it. I believe this is what some CVT transmissions were called overseas.

Here's a translated page of the features for the Civic Coupe STD.

The Si was actually a sedan only in Japan. Remember that trim name doesn't need to mean it's at all the same in other countries though. For example, some VTis come with a B16A and some in other countries come with a D16.

Nope. Plenty of real, original, made by Honda, sold in Japan 1996-2000 Civic coupes out there.

@ NOFX 95-00 civic? There's a 96-00. I could see making one mistake but doing it several times makes you look like you don't know what you're talking about. Just FYI

Again, incorrect.

There were 5G Civic coupes too.

http://www.honda.co.jp/HOT/ModelData/civic/index.html

There it is. February 1993 the Civic coupe came onto the market originally. It's an EJ1 with a 1.6L SOHC engine that was again, only mated to an automatic transmission.

Check out Honda.co.jp. You can really learn a lot of neat information on there if you nose around a bit.

In Japan the sixth generation Civic ran from 1995 to 2000. Sixth generation Civics in Japan began being sold August of 1995. Japan does not use model years like the US. A car built in 1995 is a 1995 there. Just an FYI.

Here are some 1995 6th gen Civics in Japan.

No problem at all Deetz.

Cool thread to see btw. This is the type of stuff I love.
