Changed out the VTEC solenoid gasket YUCK
188k previous owner wasn't very good about oil changes. Noticed it leaked a lil bit so I replaced it and this is the comparo. If you aren't the original owner I recomend changing this out. VTEC still worked, but I don't know how with the condition of this screen.

I would worry about the engine internals if the screen is that bad. Typically the screen is replace not because of dirt because the gasket fails.

When you start to approach 3k miles dump sea foam into your crank case. Note the color of your oil before you treat it with seafoam. Run the vehicle for a couple days. Watch the oil color like a hawk. Once the oil becomes nasty dirty - replace it along with the filter. Continue this activity for a couple oil changes.
I've had good luck with Castrol 5W-30 non-synthetic. After 2 years of beating on my Type R motor the internal looks pristine and new on castrol oil.
Good luck.

The engine is very dirty, but I got this car dirt cheap as well. I plan on doing the seafoam treatment, but hear that it's not so good for the seals? Currently the car runs/idles/drives smooth returning 30mpg but it was neglected in the past. I could not believe the condition of the screen though.
