Hi guys. Well, I fired up my 97 Civic to go to band practice last sunday and the CEL came on and I noticed the lights were plusing. Then the speedometer stopped working unless I was on the throttle and it would flutter irratically all the way up to 140mph. I turned on my lights in the rain and noticed in the bumper of the car ahead of me they were pulsing.

I got the battery checked at Autozone and replaced it with a new one AND a new alternator. Still have the same problem...

I went to Autozone to get the codes and here's what i got.
P1298 Electric Load Detector (ELD) Circuit High Voltage
P0141 Secondary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Secondary HO2S) (Sensor 2) Heater Circuit Malfunction
P0135 Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Primary HO2S) (Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Malfunction

I took it to Meineke and they got the same codes and said they would replace the Speed Sensor for $400. But what's up with both O2 sensors reading weird?

If anyone has any info, I would GREATLY appreciate it. I'm supposed to drive to 6 hours to Washington DC next weekend. ARG!

Holy crap... Dude you just saved me about $400. Haha! The guys at the shop said they checked the fuse, but apparently not. I'm not going back to that shop again...

I replaced the fuse and everything is running fine. Lights are working and speedometer is working. Thanks again!

Damn it all to hell. The gremlin is back. I replaced the fuse and it just blows after I get going on the road again...
The alternator and speedometer sensor are on the same fuse which is the one that keep sblowing. I just had the alternator replaced with a new one. The speedometer was working just fine all weekend, no CEL and the motor was purring like a kitten. Now the CEL is on again, the lights pulse and the speedometer flutters wildly with the RPM's.
Any idea's??? A bad speed sensor? Or is the alternator faulty?

I don't trust Meineke anymore and don't really want to spend the big bucks to take it to the dealership, but i desperatly need my car working by friday...
