Default Ok I give up, Civic will crank but no start....I tried the main relay..

Ok basically I have been trying all day to diagnose what the F is wrong with my car.

Background Info: 1995 Honda Civic Ex, B16a, P30 ecu.

The problem: The car will turn over, But it will not crank. I have check fuel and spark and there is none. So that led me to belive my main relay might be bad, So checked it there, and just to make sure I spliced wires 1,3,7 on the main relay together. Here is what I got. I got the fuel pump to turn on, and now had fuel pressure in the rail. So i turn the engine over notta, I smell no unburned fuel in the outlet of the exhaust manifold, leading me to believe that the fuel injectors are not working. Also I am still not getting spark. The main relay splicing technique splices the main power, fuel injectors/ecu, and fuel pump. With these wires spliced I should be cranking up. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED AT THIS POINT!! But basically I have done all I know to do. If there are any peeps out there that my know or had a similiar situation please chime in. Thanx alot. I even took the wiring harness off examined everything, it all looks good, and reinstalled it. No go. Sooo.... Please help.

You probably won't smell gas out the exhaust. After you've tried a couple times, pull the plugs and smell them for fuel. And check for spark again.

Ok all the grounds are on. I checked the the plugs for fuel smell, nothing. It is really weird that this is happeneing, I dont think it is a bad ecu, Becuase it was working before the car sat. The car has been sitting for 2 weeks.

If you don't have spark test your coil, it may be shot, its a simple resistance test with a multimeter. Then, if you still don't have fuel coming out of the injectors, test the resistance of the windings you may have had some kind of power surge in your system. What about your grounds are there grounds where there should be? Check back on alllllllllll of this before you post anything more. Good luck

i kno u said u checked the "main relay" but did u check the "main fuel relay"? i just had a prob like that i blew the main fuel relay... its the one behind ur hood popper in the car(lower left dash), near the fuse panel. its an 8 pin relay with the 4th pin missing( its the clip for the plug) to bypass check it u jump pin5 to pin7, then turn key ON should hear fuel pump turn on in back(good idea to remove rear seats, to listen)

the ECU needs to know it's cranking in order to fire injectors, and it knows this from the crank position sensor. no signal from crank position sensor, no attempt to fire up.

try spraying some 2+2(carb cleaner) in the throttle body and if it starts it's a fuel problem, if it doesnt start its a spark problem, I know its a simple dumb test but it is very affective and cuts out alot of stupid steps, if you have fuel and the car doesnt start with the 2+2 then most likely it is in the distributor, in my experience about 90percent of no spark no starts are allways related to the ignition module, I hope this helps you out, good luck.

your fuel injectors are stuck. pull the rail and push the pintles on the injectors, but be careful you dont bend them. reassemble and voila

Check whether the Main Relay is still good in my case of my 1994 civic dx crank buy no start it was a bad main relay. A garage had to diagnose and replace it and it cost over 200 dollars in labour but I was under a time constraint or I would have found out myself. Hope this helps save someone money. Once found it's a very fast and cheap swap of old to new relay.
