I was reading this ebay auto scam thing and it said this car somebody bought had an insurance claim filed that carfax never showed. I thought that was the whole point of doing a carfax lookup?

What's up with that? And what is this "insurance database"? It was my understanding that Carfax was somehow plugged into this...

Lots of stuff never shows up on Carfax.
examples:
My 99 GSR was almost totaled.........Carfax-OK
My friends old Stanza was totaled.....Carfax-OK
Mom's car hit in front.......................Carfax-OK
Mt Civic hit in back...........................Carfax-OK
Get the point, good to look at, but don't count on it for everything.

Carfax isn't all that. They dont get wrecks. One of my friends bought an 02 Civic, did a report and it was all clear. Then apon further looking at the car it had been wrecked in the back. So I don't know about the system they claim
