Car wont start on first turn
I have a 97 Civic with a JDM GSR stock engine.. No check engine lights.
Everytime I put the key in the ignition and turn, the car cranks but then it dies.. So I let go of the turn, then turn it again, it cranks but dies.. Usually on the third turn, it cranks and starts. Sometimes it sounds horrible like something is grinding before it turns. The car also doesnt start or turn at all if its on a hot day and Ive been driving the car for a while. If the engine is hot, and I parked, sometimes it would not start and I have to wait for the car to cool down.
Heres what I checked:
I check the fuel pressure to make sure its getting enough fuel
I replaced the spark plugs
I replaced the battery with a new one
I checked all my grounds and made sure all connections are tight
I changed the starter to a new one
Could it have to do something with my ignition wearing out? Before the swap, I never experienced this on my SOHC. I was wondering if maybe the GSR engine is bad or something else. Im guessing its the ignition switch or maybe distributor?

Where did you get the engine from?
Has it EVER had this problem? Or was it like that from the first time you started it after the swap? **Edit** never mind just saw title
Have you checked the alternator?
Compression test?

Re: Car wont start on first turn
The engine runs fine. It runs strong and doesnt smoke or anything. Alternator is fine as well. Also just to note, I checked the relay switch next to the glove box already and even replaced it with a new one so it clicks fine.
