Car will not stay running: 94 Hatch w/ D15B VTEC
OK, so I can't look at the ride until tomorrow, and I'd like some input if possible...
I was driving earlier, and everything was normal, then all of a sudden when lightly accelerating in 1st I lost all power all of a sudden, and the car just died. I attempted to restart it, and it will start fine for like 1/2 a second & die immediately. The fuel pump is 2 months old, and I can hear it prime. The cap/rotor look good. The fuses under the hood look good as well.
The swap was done at the end of August, so I replaced the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, thermostat, cap/rotor/plugs/wires, fuel pump/strainer/filter. I recently cleaned the IACV b/c I was having crazy idle issues.
The only twi things out of the ordinary are that, when it is below 60 degrees the idle hunts slightly (850-1100), and today, just prior to dying I noticed that my clock was blinking on & off.
I would really appreciate any input befor I jump into this tomorrow.....TIA

Ah, yes. I had an issue w/ a battery lead a week ago, so I replaced the clamp/lead deal that connects to the battery (hot side), and my alt was putting out a steady 14ish.
You think it could be a ground issue, even though it was driving perfectly normal? I had been driving for 20-30 minutes when it just died on me.
I am in Austin.

OK, so after realizing that everything mechanical was in perfect order, I took the test light out & tested everything. The problem ended up being my ignition switch. My car was broken into a few months back, and I never completely fixed everything, so my key cylindar was being pushed into a metal plate, which ended up grounding out the ignition it's fixed now. What a PITA.

Well, the bastard ignition switch shorted out again on my way to work so I had to call in . I had to go to a junkyard & buy a new key cylindar/ignition switch. That sure was a PITA to do since my column is all twisted from the break in, but it's working again, and I tested it out by driving for an hour, so it should be done. I hope....Now I have a key for the doors, and a different key for the ignition, oh well I guess.
